Our goal
We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. These are the most widely used standards for making websites work for people with disabilities.
What we’ve done
- The text is set in Atkinson Hyperlegible Next, a typeface designed by the Braille Institute to be easier to read, at a comfortable size.
- Text and background colors are checked so the text stands out clearly.
- Every link, button, and form field works with a keyboard, and a clear outline shows where you are on the page.
- Form fields have visible labels. If something needs fixing, the form says what in words and lists every problem in one place.
- Each drawing has a written description, so you don’t need to see it to follow along.
- Buttons and links are large enough to tap easily, and phone numbers can be tapped to call.
- Motion is kept to a minimum, and it’s turned off when your device asks for reduced motion.
- Pages can be enlarged to 400 percent without cutting off text or scrolling sideways.
- We test pages with automated accessibility checks, and by hand with a keyboard.
Known limitations
- Photos. Photos of the office and of Dr. Minici are still to come. Each one will have a text description when it’s added.
- The map. The maps on our home and contact pages come from Google, and we can’t control how accessible it is. The address and the Get directions links next to it give the same information as text.
- The spam check. When spam protection is turned on, the request form includes a check from Cloudflare. Cloudflare says the check meets WCAG 2.2 AA, but it needs JavaScript and isn’t under our control. If it gets in your way, call the office instead.
